A safe first date is a prepared first date. This checklist covers everything from pre-date verification to post-date debrief.

Before the Date

Complete before leaving:

  • Verify their identity — at minimum reverse image search + video call
  • Tell your safety person — name, photo, venue, time, check-in schedule
  • Share live location — activate before leaving
  • Arrange own transport — your car or pre-loaded rideshare
  • Check phone — fully charged, rideshare loaded, emergency contacts saved
  • Set boundaries — drink limit, time limit, information limits
  • Prepare exit — excuse ready, code word active

During the Date

Maintain awareness:

  • Do they match their profile?
  • Are your boundaries being respected?
  • How do they treat service staff?
  • Is your gut comfortable?
  • Are they pushing alcohol?

After the Date

Debrief while observations are fresh: boundaries respected? Profile matched? Anything uncomfortable? Would you feel safe alone with them?
